Lynn Yeakel, a former Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate, has endorsed former U.S. Assistant Attorney Ashley Lunkenheimer for the Democratic nomination in the new 5th Congressional District.
Passing sensible gun control laws is not a partisan issue. Over 33,000 Americans die every year due to gun violence, with more than 3,000 of those being children and teenagers. Working at the US Attorney’s Office, I saw firsthand the damage that these weapons can render. I worked to take military weapons out of the hands of offenders.
The Montgomery County Democratic Committee has also endorsed Democrat Ashley Lunkenheimer, a former federal prosecutor and health care advocate. “Ashley has the ability, the energy, the intelligence, and the experience to be an exceptional representative for the citizens of the 5th Congressional district,” said Williams in her endorsement. “We need more women in Congress, and we especially need young mothers like Ashley – strong, smart, determined.”
A seventh Democrat jumped into the party’s primary for Pennsylvania’s Seventh Congressional District on Tuesday. “I was watching what was happening in our community and I felt compelled to try and change it,” she said. “I think my background is different and perfect for addressing a lot of the needs of this district.”
Former U.S. Attorney Ashley Lunkenheimer officially announced that she will become the seventh Democrat to date to enter the race.
